Type of Work
Multimedia Installation

This Presidential debate search data platform toured the nation with the Google News Lab team to accompany their presidential debate media filing centers and spin rooms. Our work circulated the spin rooms, media centers and was broadcasted in national news on a 21’X12’ multi-screen wall. We built the entire tool from the CMS to the front end visuals including a remote control system for Google News Lab to manage the different views.

This tool’s front end visuals depict real time Google search data in three alternating views: National level ranked search interest of candidates, state by state ranked candidate search interest and minute by minute candidate/debate topics search interest horseraces. Our CMS enabled the horseraces to be exported as animated mp4s allowing share-ability. The work went viral on multiple social media and newscast platforms during each debate. These visuals were designed with the journalists and reporters in mind, giving them insight into what people were Googling in real time during debates in relation to the debate up to the minute.
